It's been a long time..

That just means a larger update!

So I don't know anyone who reads this anymore, but lets see. I still work at the flower shop which is going great! Derek and I just moved into the most fantastic apartment ever. We got a kitty and her name is Destro and she is THE BEST. I miss Jinx and hope I get to see him soon. I graduated college finally and Im getting ready for Grad school! SOOOO exciting. I was offered a job at John Hopkins once I finish my Dr. Im so excited for that. On a down side the Volvo died. but thats okay cause we are looking for a new car. Hopefully we get one soon. I love cooking. Now being in an awesome kitchen cooking is going to be so much better. Im starting to talk to my family again, after a long tedous year things are becoming slightly better. Which makes me happy.

So time for some super nerding out.

So I found this article on stumble that is about space and the speed of light. For those of you who dont know the speed of light travels at somewhere around 186,282.00 miles per second. So there is a natural phenomenon called anomalous dispersion which is what happens when a refractive light hits a medium ( a medium is any type of material IE: include but not limited to; glass, gases, etc). and increases with the wavelength of transmitted light. A light pulse or a group of light waves traveling on different wavelengths at the same time. So when the group of light waves passes through the medium, it causes the velocity to be boosted faster than the speed of light. However, the energy of the pulse travels at the speed of light. So what does this mean so far? When the light waves hit the medium the speed is increased causing the different wave lenghs to move faster than the speed of light WITHOUT breaking Einsteins law of relativity.


To prove this they used the observation telescope in Puerto Rico and monitored a pulsar, more than 100,000 light years away. A pulsar emits a rotating beam of radiation which to observers far away, looks like an ocean light house. These pulses can be affected in many different ways, by a variation of many different things such as free floating electrons which can be either + or - can change their polarization, or neutral Hydrogen can absorb them. The scientists did some mathematical calculations to figure out the exact time the information from the MHz machines they hooked up to monitor the pulse would print out this day at this exact time.

Okay sounds simple enough right? The date printed early. So early in fact it seemed almost impossible. Thats when they reviewed the data and learned that at particular time the phenomenon anomalous dispersion occurred and the velocity was boosted causing the light waves on different wave lengths to travel FASTER than the speed of light.


FASTER than the speed of light! Holy crap.

Derek just brought it to my attention that the only two people who read my blog, live in the same apartment as me. haha except Jinx, he might be a cat but he has a facebook. What a mischievous bastard. haha

So, Im just hanging out in Kutztown this weekend, Derek is away, so Im going to be pretty much just sitting at the apartment playing Lego batman *WACHA* and going to work.

You know whats awesome about firefox? I just spelled Lego with a lower case l (L) and it AUTOMATICALLY! corrected it to a capital L. lol, NERD I just thought it was awesome.

So it's been a long time since I've nerded out and updated this thing. After Derek mentioned it, I figured New years eve would be a great time to update so then you can see one of the last things I thought about in 2009.

Man what a year. Soo many ups and downs. I can't believe how much I hated yet loved this year. Bad things, that happened were Boscov's, Subie, and Sickness. One of the best things that has happened to me this year is Derek. He's actually one of the best things that has EVER. happened to me. :) I love him so much.

Im really excited that Andrew is my new roommate. It's so weird yet awesome in the same way because Andrew has been one of my best friends since the summer of 11th grade. Hes just, wow I have known him for so long and we've been through so much as friends, and now were going to be living together. That's so awesome. haha Its really great to see how much everyone has grown up, and how much we have all been though, I myself have had some of the hardest times in this year alone,but I have been inspired by so many people. I feel so loved, even if some people are still mad at me. We all have a lot of growing up to do, and some day things may be better between us.

I can't believe how much weight I've lost. Seriously, it's so awesome I feel a lot better about myself. And you ask how did I notice the change? Well, besides the obviousness of none of my old clothes fitting me and, now when I make small purchases when I see something I really like, I can actually get a Medium. and That's probably nothing awesomely interesting to you, but to me I can't believe how awesome it feels. And the less obvious to those other than Mogarth (yeah that's right) and I, is my ring size, went from an 8 1/2 ( OMG *embarassing*) to a 7. (yeah a 7!) Okay Im done nerding it out for the day.
